At a recent Senate hearing, during a confrontation between Dr. Anthony Fauci and Senator Rand Paul, Fauci revealed that he has received threats on his life, and there has been “harassment of my family, and my children, with obscene phone calls.” He also claimed that a man who threatened to kill him was arrested with an AR-15 and multiple magazines of ammunition in his car.
Such threats, sadly, are not uncommon. They are received by Democrat and Republican elected officials, as well as those who serve in their administrations. And sometimes they are acted upon. Republican Representative Steve Scalise was shot and nearly killed by a person who was opposed to his views.
